America's Favorite Food

Today was all about food.
For starters, Asher and I decided to pickle some okra. Yee-haw. What else do you do with a trash bag full of okra from your husband's co-worker's garden?
We used a recipe from the All Recipes Web site. Since I've never pickled or canned anything, I have no idea if it's a good recipe or not, or if I did the whole thing correctly or not.
We'll know in a few weeks if it's edible.
Tasty or not, it was a lot of fun doing it.
After the kids' dance/music classes (Avery cried the whole time and refused to participate, while Asher discovered he was going to be the only one enrolled in his group music exploration class -- bummer), I made dinner.
Tonight we had "volcano burger" sliders with sweet potato fries.
The kids love volcano burgers -- tiny turkey patties on slider buns with low-fat cheddar cheese, ketchup and mustard for the kids, and turkey patties with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, grilled jalapeno peppers and a homemade sauce of mayo and chili garlic sauce for Chris and I.
Asher was thrilled to be eating at "America's Favorite Food." Anytime he loves what I cook for dinner, he says we are eating at a restaurant called "America's Favorite Food."
Ha ha! I guess it's a good thing the kids like my cooking.
Tomorrow I plan to make some banana nut bran muffins to freeze for when we need something quick and healthy to eat.
Hopefully Avery won't decide to down half an iced latte with her muffins like she did this weekend with her pancakes. (I had no idea she had such a good reach.)
Or maybe she will.
It appears coffee puts her to sleep.

I can't make up my mind

I'm having trouble deciding what to call my blog. I think I'll stick with this for now. Maybe if I could pry myself away from Pinterest I could focus more.
But I can't, too many things are just too Pinteresting.

About time

So I've decided to start blogging again. I can't really call my blog "The Amazing Asher Althoff" anymore, because Avery and Chris would feel left out.
Even though each Althoff is pretty amazing, producing enough daily antics for his/her own blog, I'm putting everything here because I'm lazy and, well, ambivalent.
